You're about to start a new journey, it's time to get excited!
If you were to book a vacation one of the hardest things to do is not think about all the fulfilling activities you'll be able to do. Maybe it's all about the relaxation, or maybe it's the thrill of trying something new, maybe it's all the people you'll meet, or challenges you'll get to face!
Whatever it is, one of the core habits we naturally adopt with the context of vacationing is to visualize almost everything in a positive or resourceful light. Rarely do we imagine something we'd refer to as a vacation will be terrible. Otherwise, why bother wasting precious time?
But, when in the context of goals or work in generaly we often look at many of the same things in a much more negative light. We become annoyed by challenges, would rather things stay as unchanging as possible, and even sometimes loathe to relax in the face of the activities of daily life.
But it doesn't have to be this way. The Monthly Pages like any calendar can be used to keep track of important events, but a monthly view is so much more than that.
It's your itinerary, for all the amazing things you're going to get to do and for all the unexpected things that happen along the way!
It's also your guide that allows you to see how you're progressing, to remind yourself of what's important in the face of unforeseen challenges and your reminder of all the wonderful things that the month will bring if you follow this rule.
Rule 3: Often the biggest challenges we face come from our reactions, not from the challenge itself.
If you're like many people when you imagine yourself on vacation you see someone a little more adventurous, a little more confident, a little more resourceful.
Things may happen that could dampen a day, but you go with the flow, you don't worry about the rain, or a misplaced card, not like you might at home. There's too much going on, too much fulfillment to get for anything outside of a major setback to ruin your time, and sometimes not even then. Why waste the opportunity in front of you?
The Monthly Spread
The view of your calendar is the ideal layout of what you're looking to achieve over the next three months.
This doesn't mean everything will go perfectly or that you won't miss the things you set down, but it will give you an opportunity to see a bigger picture. This larger view is important when you start and as you run into challenges or roadblocks along the way.
The Monthly Spread is your best friend for staying on track, and when thrown for a loop, to getting back on track.
The Monthly Tasks
Setting Monthly Tasks is a way to bring smaller tasks into view of how they build into your Progress Goals or Result Goal. At any given time the human brain needs both small achievable tasks, and a view of how those tasks build into a bigger contribution.
Building these tasks allows you to find significance in tasks that might otherwise feel pointless.
Note: Not all tasks or goals require a Monthly Task view. We would always recommend keeping things as simple as possible for your own personality and the task at hand. Some people may thrive with Monthly Tasks where others are frustrated by them. Do what works for you!
