This is my second book. I did not use it as it is intended to be used, as a daily planner. I used it as a diary instead.

Combines all the best ideas

I'm a productivity junkie and have quite a case of ADHD (one thing may have led to the other!) and have tried many different systems: Getting Things Done apps (Omnifocus, Things, 2Do, Habitica) and analog methods like Bullet Journal.

By far my favorite was BuJo. I kept things fairly simple on the BuJo. I wanted to track some habits, plan my day, plan my year, track my projects, track my to-dos. But I keep putting off using BuJo. Especially when it comes to the Weekly and Monthly reviews. I just NEVER do them. Why? It's a project unto itself. I have to redraw everything. I make ugly mistakes. I wasn't sure which layouts to use and was prone to overcomplicating my entries. It became such a chore to journal, I often skip days (my ADHD brain is prone to skipping chores, as you might imagine).

So I looked for other systems. But other journals or systems are either too simple, too complex, too narrow (5 minute journals and week planners), LINED (with 5 mm line width. My handwriting is much bigger! - also not good for brainstorming non-linearly). Or the paper bled like crazy with my fountain pen. I wanted my most used BuJo layouts preprinted in a Leuchtturm1917 quality (Self Journal is superior. I can say that now) that is dotted and finding such a notebook turned out to be very hard.

If you take all of my complaints above, get rid of them, and you get the Self Journal. It's nice. Its system is simple but comprehensive and backed by scientific studies I've actualy read. Habit tracking, day planning, room to brainstorm, it's got everything. It's even got a pen loop which is some next level stuff as far as user-oriented product design is concerned. It's pricey, I know. But get it anyway.
