Birthday deck
How to play
life's too short for forgettable birthdays
Set Up the Deck
Divide the Deck into Three Piles:
Pile 1: Reflect & Connect cards – set these aside for the end of the game.
Pile 2: Wildcard and Games/Activities cards – the birthday person will only choose cards from this pile during the game.
Pile 3: Affirmations, Memory Lane, and Connect cards – everyone else will choose from this pile.
How to Play 🎉
Birthday Person’s Turn: The birthday person will select cards only from the Wildcard or Games/Activities categories. They’ll read the card aloud and follow the prompt for some birthday fun.
Other Players’ Turns: All other players will take turns choosing a card from either Pile 2 (Wildcard and Games/Activities) or Pile 3 (Affirmations, Memory Lane, Connect). Each player should read their card aloud and complete the activity or share their thoughts.
Notepad included: Some prompts will ask you to write down your responses. Feel free to share what you write with the group or keep it as a special memory!
Ending the game
Once everyone has taken their turns, it’s time to wrap up the celebration with the Reflect & Connect category. These cards are designed to bring the game to a thoughtful close. Each player (including the birthday person) will select a card from this pile to share, helping everyone reflect on the special memories and connections made throughout the game.
How-To Guide
Welcome to the time capsule activity! This is your chance to capture the special moments and memories from today's celebration and preserve them for the future. Follow these simple steps to create your own time capsule!
Step 1: Choose a container
Find a box, jar, or any container that can hold your memories. This will be your time capsule, so make sure it's something you can seal and keep safe.
Step 2: Gather your memories
Each person should contribute something to the time capsule. Here are some ideas:
Handwritten notes: Write down your thoughts, hopes, and predictions for the future. What do you want to remember about today?
Photos: Take some pictures of the birthday celebration and include them in the time capsule.
Objects or keepsakes: Add small items that represent the day, such as a piece of confetti, a party favor, or a memento from the event.
Step 3: Seal and store
Once everyone has contributed, seal your time capsule. Make sure it is well protected and label it with today's date and the date it should be opened in the future - ideally on the person's next birthday!
