5 Days to Deeper Relationships Day 3

Day 3: Expressing Gratitude and Admiration

Expressing Gratitude and Admiration

Hello, and welcome to day 3!

How did you enjoy your deep talk session yesterday?

Did you discover something about your partner that you didn’t previously know?

Did you feel closer and more connected as a result of spending this quality speaking time together?

Question prompts are an easy way to spark deeper conversations - so keep that tactic in your back pocket!

But of course, that’s not the only way to forge connection.

In today’s video, I’m going to share a different type of communication exercise - this one is about expressing admiration and gratitude for each other.

Your Day 3 Challenge: Active Appreciation!

  1. Sit face-to-face with your person.

  2. Make eye contact [remember active listening!]

  3. Take turns saying something that you admire and appreciate about each other.

That’s it!

As you share, allow your sense of value and respect for each other and yourself grow.

You may start out by admiring the things that they do… but as you get into the flow, chances are you’ll begin cherishing or treasuring the things that they are as well.

When you’ve finished the exercise, you may like to spend some time journaling about your experiences.

How did this exercise make you feel? How did it feel to give and receive appreciation and gratitude?

And if you enjoyed this exercise, why not get into the habit of showing appreciation daily?

A text message, hand-written note, or a whisper and a soft smile can make all the difference.

Because active appreciation says I SEE YOU.

I notice who you are and what you do.

I’m lucky to have you in my life.

And I don’t take you for granted.

These are all powerful ways to deepen your love and feel more connected.

Have fun with this exercise - and I’ll see you again tomorrow for lesson 4.
